For Educators & Schools

Ms. Hightower works with teachers, reading specialists, and school
administrators to help them be prepared and knowledgeable on how to support families and students with dyslexia. Lorraine can develop a program to provide training and resources for school districts on how to empower their staff.

Ms. Hightower has provided customized professional development workshops and training programs to ensure that teachers can create effective accommodations in the classroom as well as use the latest in assistive technology.

Local, State,

and Federal

Lorraine collaborates and partners with leaders at every level to develop and enhance legislation to ensure every child with dyslexia is supported.  Her knowledge and advocacy efforts, in partnership with parents of Decoding Dyslexia Virginia (DDVA), have been instrumental in getting several bills developed and passed.

For Communities

We provide educational workshops for service providers in our community, such as pediatricians and parent advocacy groups, on how to proactively support families when it comes to learning disabilities and the special education process in schools.

“I have greatly appreciated her commitment to working with multiple stakeholder groups and representing the interests of our special education community.  She has demonstrated great strengths in building relationships, facilitating discussion and working toward consensus in a very collaborative manner. It is a significant advantage for our schools and families to have the dedication and passion that Mrs. Hightower brings to her work advocating for students and families.”
